Pinterest Chickens
Hello Friends,
Welcome back! When I first started The Honest Moment I desired a corner of the internet that was dedicated to authenticity. None of the fake stuff. I wanted to share my life with you and to write freely about the things in life we don\’t talk much about. However, I also knew that my blog didn\’t yet have a life of its own, and I wasn\’t quite sure what God would lead me to write about.
Over the past year, God has broken me out of my writer\’s block, inspired me to finish writing my first book and publish it, and taught me the importance of never giving up on your dreams.
Writing is something I have loved since I was a little girl, however, I never imagined I would become an author. All while building my family and being in the busiest season of my life, God has challenged me to dream bigger and to go after the dreams He had placed within me.
One of those dreams has been to start a small homestead on our 28 acres. I love animals, gardening, being outside, and a good DIY project. My husband has been such an inspiration to me to go after all the dreams God places within me and to never give up. He has been so supportive and helpful as I come up with project after project for us to do.
One of the first projects we tackled was our chicken coop. Of course, I jumped on Pinterest and found exactly what I wanted. I have this habit of thinking something is much easier than it is. But that never stops my husband from helping make it a reality. He\’s the best.
The inside of the coop is 8 feet x 4 feet with an 8×8 outside run. We used 2x4s for the beams and chicken wire to enclose the run. We also ran the chicken wire down into the ground to keep the predators out. Our girls live in the forest so we wanted to make sure they were safe.

The roof was some recycled tin that we had lying around and we finished it with plywood and paneling walls. We decided to paint it white with black accents and decorated it with a few flowers, and wallah!
Sometimes it\’s the simple things in life that bring us the greatest joy. Go enjoy each day the Lord has given you! Even if it’s just hugging a chicken!
it truly is as adorable as all your pictures show reach for the moon if you miss you’ll catch a star dream on my sweet girl
